Massage

At Exhale Wellness Centre, we don't just get you on a table and put elbows into your sore spots, our real goal is to understand why there is pain and tension in the first place and then discover ways to work with your body to create lasting change.
We approach massage as both a therapeutic and nervous system led practice. Pain rarely exists in isolation. It is usually an accumulation of stress, posture and imbalanced load. Other times it can be due to injuries or incorrect movement patterns. During a session, we are paying attention to how the different areas of your body relate to each other and where your body may be guarding itself, not just where the pain is showing up.
Our goal is to reduce pain, improve function and support your overall quality of life, not to keep you on our table, and not just to give temporary relief, that is why we consider our service an investment into yourself
We Focus On:
Identifying the type of pain and any contributing factors rather than just treating the symptoms
Releasing restriction in muscles, fascia and surrounding tissues
Supporting the nervous system so changes can occur and be held
Improving movement, muscle activation, recovery and day-to-day comfort
Sometimes, that can mean slower work. Other times that can mean more targeted, specific treatment. The approach shifts depending on what your body is needing and how it responds, sometimes on a moment-to-moment basis.
What a session may feel like:
Each session can be quite different but overall you should notice...
Reduced pain or tension in the treated area
Feeling lighter or even heavier in the treated area
Increased ease of movement
A little foggy in the head due to down-regulation
Great sleep following the massage
Sometimes, temporary soreness or achiness around the treated area due to increase of blood flow and release of toxins, followed by relief.
Emotional responses may also happen too, when the body feels safe the body can bring about emotions it no longer needs to hold, it is important when or if these things happen is to offer yourself some grace and allow it to move and release freely in a healthy supportive way.
Who This Works For
Ongoing or recurring pain (also referred to as chronic pain)
Pain that hasnt resolved with typical massage work
Tension that doesn't resolve with stretching alone
Stress that shows up physically in the body
People who want more than short term relief
You dont need to know the root cause of the pain showing up in your body, we explore that together through the body itself.
Massage is the most effective when it is part of a bigger picture. Supporting movement, mobility, strength and nervous system regulation between sessions helps reinforce the changes made on the table and improves long term outcomes.
